About CDP
CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) is a global non-profit and UK-registered charity that runs the world's leading environmental disclosure system. Over 23,000 organisations disclosed through CDP's platform in 2024—representing more than two-thirds of global market capitalisation.
CDP is widely regarded as the gold standard in environmental reporting and data transparency, enabling companies, cities, and governments to disclose their environmental impact and drive meaningful action on climate change, deforestation, and water security.
The Challenge
Taking Over a Stalled Digital Transformation
When I joined CDP in October 2023, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) had been leading a multi-year digital transformation that was behind schedule. The programme was originally slated for completion by the end of 2023, but key platform components remained incomplete.
The challenge: CDP faced fixed, non-negotiable annual delivery deadlines that could not be missed due to the cyclical nature of its global disclosure process. Failure to launch would have had major global implications for environmental reporting.
